Italians are famous for speaking with their hands.
But what if hands didn’t just support language…
what if they became the language?
This 5-week workshop explores Italian through ceramics, using clay as a tool for communication, memory, and connection.
Rather than beginning with grammar rules or textbooks, we begin with action.
Participants learn Italian through making, physically embodying words while shaping clay.
Language becomes tactile, playful, and easier to remember.
Each session connects spoken language to the creative process.
We might make espresso cups while learning how to order a coffee in Italian, or create symbolic objects inspired by personal memories, traditions, and cultural stories.
The focus is not on perfection, but on confidence, curiosity, and shared experience.
This project invites people to learn language not only with the mind, but with the hands.
It creates a welcoming space where culture can be explored through clay, conversation, gesture, and creativity, without pressure.
A space where different identities, experiences, and stories can meet around a table and take shape together.
Because sometimes connection begins not with perfect words…
but with making something together.
